Things people ask before they call.
Is a flickering light or a warm outlet actually an emergency?
A warm or discolored outlet, a burning smell, buzzing from the panel, or repeated breaker trips on the same circuit are all reasons to stop using that circuit and call. Those are the early symptoms of a loose connection or a failing device, and loose connections are what start fires. Turn the breaker off and call us.
Do I need a permit for electrical work on my own house?
In most Indiana jurisdictions, yes, for anything beyond swapping a fixture or a device — new circuits, panel changes, and service upgrades all require a permit and an inspection. We handle the permit as part of the job so it doesn't become your paperwork.
My panel is a Federal Pacific or Zinsco. Does it really need replacing?
Those panels have a documented history of breakers that fail to trip under fault conditions, and most insurers and home inspectors flag them. They also can't be safely added to, since replacement breakers aren't reliably available. If you have one, replacing it is usually the right call, and we'll show you what we're looking at before you decide.
Can you give a price over the phone?
For straightforward, well-defined work — adding a dedicated circuit, installing a ceiling fan where wiring already exists — often yes. For anything involving existing conditions inside a wall or an old panel, we need to see it. Quoting that kind of work sight-unseen produces numbers that change halfway through, which helps nobody.
Do you work outside Indiana?
Yes, for commercial and industrial projects across the greater Midwest. Residential service calls stay closer to home, since same-day response matters more than distance on those. See where we work.
