Home EV charging

Most home installs are Level 2: a 240V circuit, typically on a 40A or 60A breaker, either hardwired to the charger or terminated in a NEMA 14-50 receptacle. That gets you roughly 25 to 40 miles of range per hour of charging, which means a full battery every morning without thinking about it.

Level 1 — a standard wall outlet — adds three to five miles per hour. It's fine for a plug-in hybrid or a short commute, and genuinely inadequate for most full EVs.

What your panel has to support

This is where most EV installs actually get decided. A 48A continuous load is one of the largest single circuits in a typical house. Your panel needs a free double-pole space and, more importantly, enough service capacity to carry the load alongside everything else.

We run a load calculation before quoting. Sometimes the answer is a straightforward circuit run. Sometimes the panel is full or the service is undersized and needs to be addressed first — and it's better to hear that before the car arrives than after. If a service upgrade is required, we'll price both together so you can see the whole picture.

For workplaces, multifamily properties, and fleet yards we handle multi-port installations, the distribution and conduit infrastructure behind them, and coordination with networked charging vendors. Utility incentive programs sometimes apply to commercial installs, and we can point you toward what's available.
